Prerequisites to Become an Amika Care Assistant

At Amika, we're looking for caring and dynamic individuals to provide care to our seniors, but also people who are ready to have fun in their role! Here's what you need to know:

  • No criminal record related to the job (a quick check will be done, just to be sure!)

  • Up-to-date PDSB and CPR training (don't panic, if you haven't already, it's easy to get!)

  • Law 90 Training? A Small Bonus, But Not Essential!

  • Experience with seniors or people with disabilities? A big plus!

  • Ready to travel? Owning a car or having a driver's license is a small plus, but not a must!

  • Good physical condition to help with our clients' mobility – we're looking for smiles, but also strong arms!

  • Diploma of Professional Studies (DVS) in Personal Assistance or first year in nursing? Highly appreciated, but not required!

  • Impeccable professional attitude – always a smile and a positive attitude!

  • Dynamic and cheerful – fun and good humor are part of the job!

  • Using a smartphone for your work – easy and convenient!

  • Knowledge of French to communicate effectively with our beneficiaries.

What is the salary offered?

The salary ranges from $20 to $25.63 per hour, depending on your title and degree. And, of course, raises are expected based on seniority. 🙌

Is mileage paid?

No mileage reimbursement, but the good news is that you totally choose where you want to work! 🤩

Do you offer benefits?

Yes! 🎉 If you have more than 3 months of seniority, you benefit from several advantages, such as an Employee Assistance Program, telemedicine, and a portfolio of reimbursed expenses for your well-being and health care! 🏥💚

Can we not work weekends or nights?

Of course! You're in control of your schedule. Choose your time slots and decide whether you want to work nights or weekends. But keep in mind that care is also needed during these times, so if you're available, it's always appreciated!

How many hours per week do you offer?

It's up to you! Your hours vary based on your availability and assigned clients. We'll do our best to ensure you get the hours you want, but we can't guarantee a fixed minimum. 💪

Is it really one customer at a time?

Yes, you will be fully dedicated to one client at a time. No multitasking here! You will take your time to take care of them while respecting their pace and your own. 💙

What type of tasks might I be required to perform at home?

Here are the main tasks you could accomplish with love and kindness:

  • Help with activities of daily living : personal hygiene, dressing, medication reminders, etc. 🛁
  • Help with domestic activities : light cleaning, meal preparation, shopping, transportation. 🧹🍽️
  • Discussion and activities : Spend time discussing and suggesting activities tailored to our beneficiaries. 🗣️🎨
  • Surveillance : ensuring the well-being and safety of our customers. 🛡️
